It is with great pleasure that MacroFab announces the launch of our new ordering system. This improved system was designed with you, our valued customers, in mind to provide an easier, smoother, and faster way to source Customer-Furnished Material (CFM).
As a result of the update, placing an order is now simpler, as all the necessary information can be provided to MacroFab in a logical order. To speed up the process of transforming your inventive ideas into reality, we’ve made some significant changes. Here’s what’s new:
Quote & Order
Part-sourcing now occurs primarily on the Quote & Order page, within the “Components” section. This change means you can finalize an order without differentiating between consignment and inventory, simplifying the process and allowing you to secure pricing and lead times for all MacroFab-supplied parts.
The best part? You can save your sourcing configuration as default for the next time you order, allowing for an even smoother process in the future.
Bill of Materials (BOM)
In the BOM section, you’ll now find a “Your Inventory Available” column. This new feature shows you the total quantity of each part that is available in your MacroFab inventory, saving you time and simplifying decision-making.
In this new update, customers no longer have to worry about a component’s origin within the Bill of Materials page, and can instead focus on choosing the right parts for their build first. Additionally, requiring less detailed information about sourcing in advance allows orders to be placed faster.
Parts to Supply
Upon placing an order, you can choose whether parts, with “Me” as the source, will be drawn from your existing inventory or shipped (consigned) to us at MacroFab.
This allocation happens on the new Parts to Supply page, consolidating all your post-order decisions in one easy-to-navigate location. You can also add parts to your alternate list on this page.
Revamped In-Flight Change (IFC) Process
We understand that change is part and parcel of innovative design. Therefore, we’ve upgraded the IFC process to allow adjustments to your sourcing configuration, even for orders already in motion.
If you choose to make an IFC to an order that includes customer-furnished material, simply re-finalize its part sourcing on the Parts to Supply page, and you’re good to go.
